I like to start my day early giving myself time to ease in to being awake. The transition from sleep to wake has always been a difficult one for me. My bed is so warm - my dogs gathered around me. Their little bodies turned into furry space heaters. Sleep is a welcome break from reality. Coming back into this realm is sometimes difficult.
My sunrise lamp guides me to stir. A slow rise instead of a booming alarm jerking me awake.
I start every morning by walking the dogs- just a short stroll to get the blood flowing and soak in the morning air. This is also when I set my intentions for the day. I take in the sunrise watching the sky fill with water colors of pinks and oranges. I breathe in slowly through my nose and out through my mouth letting my body feel the vibrations of the world around me.
Back in the house, the first order of business is food and coffee. The second order of business is a 30 minute free write. Food and coffee fuel my creativity along with the morning songs of the birds.
I cherish my early mornings. There is something so peaceful about being up before the sun. Before the rest of the world starts to awaken. It's like having your own little piece of the world...even just for 30 brief minutes.
