I miss you sometimes
even though I've reminded myself
over and over
you are not mine to miss...
you never were

Nevertheless  
the feeling..
that nagging, longing
creeps in

During the dark silence
3AM
alone in bed
me and my boisterous, scrambled thoughts
of you 
of what could have been...

It stalks me in the car
strikes opportunistically
me unexpecting
the lyrics of a song
the hum of a melody
shooting bullets into 
my heart
missing, yearning
crawling through my veins
scratching to get out
pounding my brain
driving me mad...

So yes, 
           I still miss you sometimes

                 even though

                          you never were mine...
                                                 to miss.
